Everything changes, everything moves and the only way to try to capture a moment is photography.
I started out as a photojournalist for major communications agencies, and I'm passionate about action photography, like in sports, where capturing an instant, a single moment of an athlete's life is a key aspect of photography. A moment almost imperceptible to the human eye, yet indelibly captured in an image.
The type of image I've produced since I started shooting with a Kodak Instamatic is an orderly one, as if I were trying to organize the flow of life. Movement and order, almost a losing battle because chaos dominates the universe, while I try to stop it and bring order. A madness, a madness, that I try to confront with my camera. I love challenges and I escape everything preconceived and routine, and this affects my work and the type of photos I take.
After working with the world's leading magazines, I decided to explore another side of photography: fashion. Of course, I didn't forget the sectors I love—automotive and yachting, still my favorites—and I have clients like Ferrari, Riva, Ferretti, Maserati, and more in my portfolio.
Despite myself, I'm receiving more and more requests for still life photography, including high-end jewelry, where I apply my passion for organizing and creating as much order as possible with the objects I photograph. And so I've become passionate about this type of photography, so much so that I've become a photographer for many fashion companies like Gucci and others, where my job is to organize e-commerce shoots, the primary goal of which is to speed up and coordinate production flows.
At this point, I encountered El Vaquero, a company and business unlike any I had known until then, a family of people passionate about their work and products. Their attention to detail and the uniqueness of their products drives me to photograph each piece as if it were, and indeed is, a one-of-a-kind piece. Every shoe is different from the others, every customer will have a unique product that sets them apart from all the others. Every time, I find a different leather, a lace, a sole to enhance and showcase in its splendor. Colors and their nuances are an essential prerogative of El Vaquero products. Shooting a shoe from this company is like photographing a jewel; each piece needs its own light, its own reflection, and its own shape.
Onward to the next projects and photographic challenges. Who knows what I'll have to immortalize tomorrow, but I already know it will be an exciting and fun challenge, because if I don't have fun, I can't create.
